SUBSTATION CAFE IN ALEXANDRIA

A tiny old electrical substation has been converted into a snug cafe. All the original exterior features on the brick building, including the signage have been retained. Only the glass entry door has been added and a big opening for a folding window has been cut into the side wall to connect the inside with the adjacent courtyard. The window functions as a long communal bar table with seating to both sides.
The internal finished have been chosen to complement and enhance the character of the existing building. Existing brick walls have just been painted, the old concrete floor retained and timber bench & table tops chosen to add a soft natural element.
