Stanmore house - 2

Complimenting the neighbouring house, this project allowed the aesthetic from the previous design to be continued onto the second half of the semi detached dwelling. While maintaining the traditional front style of the house, the rear has been opened up to create an open plan kitchen and dining area. The change of level from the entrance to the back formalises the contrast between these two styles and at the same time provides space under the stair to house the laundry, seamlessly merging onto the kitchen cabinets.

The lightweight first floor addition adds the space for a master bedroom with ensuite and a study/living room with balcony that overlooks the new deck and courtyard.
The fa├žade has been adapted to facilitate the internal elements. Light filters through the house via the large new windows on both levels with a pergola overhang for shading. The single pitched roof imitates the same angle as the neighbouring house creating a symmetrical arrangement.
